Accessible voting in the upcoming State Election
The South Australian Electoral Commission is gearing up for the State Election and is implementing several initiatives to ensure greater accessibility for people who are blind or have low vision.
The SA Electoral Commissioner Mick Sherry said these services include print alternatives, electronic magnifiers, audio letters, large print letters and braille.
For the first time in South Australia, new electronically assisted voting systems will be available at three locations.
“Over recent months the Electoral Commission SA has been consulting and working with our partners to make sure we understand the needs of the vision impaired community and provide suitable voting services,” he said.

People can also enrol or update enrolments online – the deadline is noon Friday 23 February.”

Key dates for the 2018 State Election include:
5 February 2018 – Postal vote application available
12 noon 23 February 2018 – Deadline for enrolling or updating details on the electoral roll
26 February 2018 – Deadline for nominating as a candidate
5 March 2018 – Pre-poll opens (early voting) / closes on 16 March 2018
17 March 2018 – Polling Day
